John Hopex Nigeria, 1992
John Hopex, born the 8th of November of 1992, is a Nigerian artist. As a child, he began drawing as a way to express his imagination. He studied Purchasing and supply on the Polytechnic of Ibadan, where he obtained a National Diploma in 2014. Three years later, in 2017, he started his artistic studies by attending Fine and applied Arts on the University of Benin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Art.
With great reverence for African narratives, he uses his art to tell stories of his wildest dreams. Encouraged by his peers, he also followed the path of portrait work. He fell in love with the craft’s ability to bring life, exuberance, and color to the people and places that colored his world. He believes in artwork as a vessel for amplifying the voices of those around him.
Hopex has been able to participate in various art exhibitions shows and competetitions within and outside Nigeria. To mention few of them:
-Intergalactic Open 3 - Juried Competition and Group Exhibition (2021).
