Patrick Akpojotor Nigeria, b. ¿?

Patrick Akpojotor is a nigerian multidisciplinary artist based on lagos. He studied at the School of Art, Federal Polytechnic, Auchi and Lagos State Polytechnic. He also had his informal training with Bruce Onobrakpeya as a studio assistant.
Akpojotor’s work is influenced by his fascination with architecture, ancient African art, built space, and their ability to shape ones identity. He is also interested in the differences in human attitude, relating to the culture of a built environment that they inhabit.
His art merges elements of architecture, urban landscape, geometry, human forms and imagined spaces to create abstract composition that interrogates our sense of perception. How objects are placed in his work does not matter, what matters to him is that the objects are represented.
Akpojotor had his solo exhibition “IF WALLS COULD SPEAK” in 2019. He has won several awards/prizes including the ArtX prize 2016 and Olusegun Obasanjo National Art Competition 2013. He has participated in several group exhibititions and workshops as a participant and a facilitator.
