Alex Peter Idoko Nigeria, b. 1992
Alex Peter Idoko (b. 1992) also known as Alex Peter is a Nigerian artist born and raised in Lagos. During secondary school, he discovered his passion for painting by drawing portraits and perfectioned the ability of it.
He has developed his artistic skills by using different kinds of drawing mediums like pen, pastel, pencil, and Pyrography art (use of a razor, sandpaper, and blowtorch) which he has mastered. He describes his technique as surrealistic and hyperrealistic.
His artworks reference African or black people realities: he writes, rebrand and edit the Black Story by bringing issues and challenges that surrounds them and also setting positive images that would serve as a role model to the new generations. To sum up, they are created to lend voice to all who lack the power to speak in the public domain.
He has participated in exhibitions at Omenka Gallery, Ikoyi, Lagos State, Nigeria. Moniker art fair, New York, United States and Commonthread exhibition in London, Context Art Miami Fair. Winner of the “Award of Excellence” in the 2016 Benue Youth Choice Awards, he has become a well known artist and seeks the way to keep improving.
