VIDEOZOOM now in its seventh edition continues its commitment to the art of emerging countries, turning this year to the Arab world. 19 Avril - 11 Mai 2008 La Kyo Art Gallery in collaborazione con la Sala 1 di Roma, presenta VIDEOZOOM - Videoartisti del Marocco. La rassegna, a cura di Francesca Gallo e con il sostegno della Fondation Hassan II pour les Marocains Residents à l’Etranger e della Regione Lazio, dopo Roma e Frosinone, raggiungerà la sua terza tappa sabato 19 aprile 2008 a Viterbo. VIDEOZOOM giunto alla sua settima edizione prosegue l’impegno verso l’arte dei paesi emergenti, rivolgendosi quest’anno al mondo arabo. Storica “porta” fra l’Africa e l’Europa, il Marocco è attualmente interessato da un rapido processo di modernizzazione a cui non è estranea neppure la comunità marocchina in Italia, la più numerosa nel nostro paese. Negli anni ’90, assieme alle trasformazioni politiche, il Marocco vede emergere nuovi artisti, che sperimentano una pluralità di linguaggi, contaminati con l’universo della comunicazione mediatica, e che affrontano temi d’attualità come la censura o la passata repressione. Fra questi Mounir Fatmi, uno degli artisti africani di maggior successo internazionale, che riflette sugli stereotipi culturali e sulla negazione dell’auto-rappresentazione; e Brahim Bachiri, che si interroga sull’essere marocchini oggi. Dal 2000 molti giovani videomaker sono presenti ai festival internazionali, fra questi Mohamed Ezoubeiri, Mourad El Figuigui, e Hassan Boufous che operano in patria e sono originali osservatori di un mondo in trasformazione. Bouchra Khalili, invece, ha scelto il Mediterraneo – frontiera ideale e materiale fra punti di vista e aspettative spesso contrapposte – come tema cardine della propria ricerca, mentre Fatima Mazmouz, si concentra sull’identità di artista e donna. Infine, Videozoom Marocco presenta alcuni degli animatori del Collectif212, fondato da artisti attivi in Marocco, tra i quali Amina Benbouchta e Safaa Erruas, alla loro prima collaborazione video, e Younès Rahmoun, tutti caratterizzati da una ricerca che coniuga forme, materiali e idee della tradizione culturale del Marocco, con i linguaggi dell’arte contemporanea “occidentale” e dei new media. Dopo Roma, Frosinone e Viterbo la rassegna sarà presentata a Bari, Bologna, Milano, Philadelphia (USA). Lire plus
